What Are The Options To Improve My Smile?

  1. Veneers

Veneers are generally considered the “gold standard” option to improve your smile. Many public figures and celebrities have turned to veneers to rejuvenate their smile. With the popularity and prevalence of veneer treatment, this is no longer elusively for the famous! See how porcelain veneers can change your smile and boost your confidence.

Veneers are porcelain laminates, similar thinness to that of a contact lens. It is bonded over your teeth, to change the appearance of your smile. Multiple veneers are made together, depending on how many teeth you show at smile.

Veneers can be either made from composite plastic filling material, or porcelain. Porcelain veneers are stronger, longer lasting. The advantage of composite veneers is generally lower cost, but this comes with more frequent replacement. At ABC Dental, we have found patients experience higher satisfaction post treatment with porcelain veneers.

2. clear aligner treatment

Orthodontic, especially clear aligner treatment can be a viable alternative to, or in addition to veneers. You may have heard of popular brands such as Invisalign, or ClearCorrect. Generically, this group of treatment is known as Clear Aligner Treatment. Clear Aligner treatment can re-align crowded or mal-aligned teeth. They cannot however, modify the shape of the teeth like veneers.

On average, clear aligner treatment takes longer than veneers (6 months or more vs 2 weeks).

How Much Does It Cost?

In Sydney CBD, porcelain veneer treatment, can vary significantly. Prices range, for 6 veneers (typical veneer treatment), between $8000-$13000. Differences in cost can be attributed to material used, clinician experience, and the general pricing of the dental practice. Its important to note, higher fees does not always equate to better clinical outcomes.

At ABC Dental we offer veneers for $1,750 per tooth. We suggest that at least 6 unit veneers are done to achieve optimal results.

What Is The Lifespan Of Veneers?

Porcelain veneers, like crowns, can last for many years if properly cared for. Average clinical studies show lifespan between 10-15 years. Satisfaction with porcelain veneers amongst patient groups are generally high. At ABC, we’ve not yet had someone who said “Can I please have my grey teeth back”!

Veneers can be damaged, all things can chip (even your natural teeth). Therefore, some sensible care needs to be exercised to maximise the lifespan of your new smile.

You should return for preventive maintenance (veneers or not) at regular intervals, to your dental professional. Ensuring optimal oral health, is the best way to maximise the lifespan of veneers.

I Am Concerned About Damage To My Teeth?

Some teeth removal is necessary in any veneer treatment. Depending on your oral condition, minimal preparation style veneers can be offered. This is especially for cases where veneers are used to close excess spacing between teeth.

Some patients are concerned about any removal of “healthy” tooth structure. There is no right or wrong about this. As above, we have observed many patients who were highly satisfied with veneer treatment. Our finding is that, whilst this is front of mind before making the decision for veneers. It is almost never a consideration looking back.
